William Barclay - Professional writer and journalist
William has worked for some of the world's largest media organisations
such as international news agencies Reuters and Agence France-Presse as
well as the BBC.
He started his career in Moscow in 1993 working as a general reporter
for a newspaper called The Moscow Tribune, before becoming a Moscow and
London correspondent for the news agency United Press International.
Between 1997 and 2000 William worked as a sports correspondent for Agence
France-Presse in Paris and London. After a spell at BBC News Online, he
joined Reuters in 2000 and covered major international sports events such
as the football World Cup, the Summer and Winter Olympics and numerous
grand slam tennis tournaments.
A graduate of Exeter University, William speaks French and Russian and
can design basic websites using XHTML and CSS. he also gives talks and
seminars about journalism to undergraduate and post-graduate students.
