Other News: EIB (European Investment Bank) loans UK banks £650 million for small business lendingThree UK banks have borrowed a total of £650 million from the European Investment Bank (EIB) in order to lend to small businesses. The Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS), the Bank of Scotland (BoS) and Barclays Bank will act as intermediaries for the funds and pass them on to small and medium-sized firms. Simon Brooks, vice president of the EIB, said that the EIB would increase lending by almost 30% during 2009 and 2010 to try and help businesses during the credit crunch.Read more... |
