A coalition of entrepreneurs, teachers and individuals working in the creative industries are suggesting bringing back Margaret Thatchers enterprise scheme which paid individuals £40 a week (slightly more than the dole) for a year as they started their own business.
New Deal of the Mind founder Martin Bright called for a reintroduction of the Enterprise Allowance Scheme "as a means of saving a lost generation of young people from the recession." The report has been published in collaboration with the Arts Council.
