A web portal is soon to be launched by the Government's Small Business Service (SBS) and Office of Government Commerce (OGC). The portal will offer small businesses across the UK direct access to local and central government opportunities. Its launch follows a
recommendation in the 2003 joint Better Regulation Task Force and Small Business Council report on how to reduce barriers facing businesses wishing to tender for public sector contracts. A pilot of the portal, which operated in the West Midlands, can be viewed at: http://www.supplyinggovernment.gov.uk
