After the sellout success of the Two Minutes Silence Film challenge (of which more later), the next o-region event will be the second FUTURESHORTS Cornwall, which will be taking place this Thursday (June 16th) at the Acorn in Penzance. There has been a fabulous response for the inaugural Futureshorts in May, and the June programme is if anything even better!
Selected highlights this month include:
ROCKIN' & ROLLIN', a stunning award winning stop-frame animation set in a pool ballıs locker room; BATAILLE, in which two samurai are fighting against each other over a woman or perhaps the cosmos; WE HAVE DECIDED NOT TO DIE, a breath-taking triptych that evokes a surreal, ritualistic world whose characters appear to float free of space and time; BEDOUIN SAND, in which nine-year old Roi falls in love with a bottle of coloured sand that a Bedouin tries to sell him in Sinai; BRORMIN, a tense portrait of family dysfunction played out between two brothers in the back seat of the family car ; and HIS PASSIONATE BRIDE, billed as the greatest, sexiest, and shortest story ever told... Ever.
Futureshorts Cornwall has got a real buzz going so youıd be mad to miss out. Come and check out the films, have some drinks, and enjoy the show. Tickets are £5 and the show starts at 8pm. Judging by the popularity of last month's event, it might be a very good idea to reserve tickets from the Acorn box office on (01736) 365520.
