Opportunities: Fancy being Awarded £5000 to make your film? If the Answer is yes then read on ....

The Govynn Kernewek Award. Every year the Cornwall Film Festival commission a film to be made in the Cornish language. This year's winners receive £5000 to produce their Cornish language film, as well as additional in kind support from the festival board. The finished film is screened at a premier event at the following years Festival. Don't panic, you do not have to speak Cornish to be eligible for this award, translators can be commissioned and used to interpret your script from English to Cornish.The Criteria for the 2006 Govynn Kernewek Award are:


• 10 minute film in any genre using the Cornish language
• Applications must come from existing Cornish film makers (ie some track record of film making in Cornwall)
• The film must be based around the theme of, and titled: An Jowl Yn Agas Kegin (The Devil In Your Kitchen)


In a change to previous years' format, applicants to the Govynn Kernewek Award will not be required to make a live pitch of their film concept. Instead, applicants are asked to send in a one page treatment of their film concept, together with a one page CV to:

Applications will be reviewed by selection panel and short listed applications will be announced at the Cornwall Film Festival Press Launch on Monday 23rd October 2006. Short listed applicants will then be invited to an interview with the selection panel and the winner will be announced at the Festival in November. The film must be completed by 31 May 2007 and students are not eligible for this year's award.
