Other News: Stores lose out to e-commerceTown centre shops are reportedly losing out as increasing numbers of customers are shopping online. During 2005, shoppers spent £767 million less in town centres than they did in 2004, market researchers Verdict said. It was the first year-on-year fall in sales for around 20 years.In addition to losing customers to online rivals and out-of-town retailers, town centre shops also had to deal with wage inflation, higher rents and a fall in the price of goods.
