Member news: Jane Gosney FRSA FSLL Transparencies Exhibition open 4th Nov with Business Launch

Jane joined Digital Peninsula network when moving permanently to Penwith, as her first requirement was to find a local space with access to the latest computer technology and business support facilities. Another requirement was to find a network of designers and service providers also using computers as a creative platform to provide technical support and potential to co sell design services.

There may be a view held by many people outside the region that local seaside tourism is the main Cornish industry, however at DPN businesses including Jane’s site specific artwork employ innovative design techniques and cutting edge software ready to compete in the international market. Lighting design and photography are her primary skills. The products are site specific pieces aimed at clients involved in urban regeneration, landscape design, festivals, events and advertising.

The romantic view of the quality of the light and landscape has been part of the magnet of Cornwall as inspiration too. In order to translate creative work into products and communicate with suppliers and clients the appropriate software is now an essential tool. The ability to edit photographic images and print onto a range of media have allowed her to develop artwork to extend her portfolio and compliment her work as a design practitioner and lecturer. She regularly speaks in public about education and the use of computer technology in design development.

Jane has worked with the developers of radiance based photo-accurate visualisation software in design and has written about the issues of representing both natural light and electric light on the computer screen since the possibilities emerged in the mid nineties. Her earlier creative work in building design has always required engineering calculation and visual representation of ideas with computers. She also works as a lecturer interested in low energy design and uses her own project images as illustrations. She aims to inspire.
