Government announces funding for firms who train unemployedJan 25, 2009 - 09:26 AMPrime Minister Gordon Brown has announced that employers will be given funding when they provide training for the long-term unemployed. He told an employment summit that employers would be given up to £2,500 for training someone who had been unemployed for more than six months. The £500 million initiative, overseen by the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP), will also help people set up businesses and provide advice on business plans as well as funding for the first months of trading.
