Author of DNA and Family History. DNA And Family History is written for genealogists and one-namers, anyone intrigued by genetic genealogy and everyone organising a DNA project. ![]() About the author Though I'd long wondered about my family tree, it was access to email in 1996 that really kick-started my genealogical research. Teaming up with other researchers within our very extended family, I was able in 2000 to launch the Pomeroy DNA project, then the largest of its kind in the world. Its results have been cited on BBC Radio 4, The New Scientist, The Daily Mail and in other international media. I now manage many of the activities of the Pomeroy Family Association including a documentary research programme that now lists more than a thousand researchers worldwide. Based in Cornwall, I am a member of the Guild of One-Name Studies, the Society of Genealogists and the Cornwall Family History Society. I have lectured or written on DNA testing within those organizations as well as the Federation of Family History Societies. I am particularly interested in helping genealogical organizations and surname groups to increase the benefits that can be had from email and other online capabilities on the Internet.
